PostSubject: Homemade seismometer and program...   Sun Jan 21, 2007 2:16 pm

This is just a little hello to whoever come to this forum.

I made a simple "Lehman" type seismometer, as well as a simple program to read the data.
The seismometer is connected to a P-II computer using a digital voltmeter as interface.

The computer is running the linux operating system.
The actual program is writen in the "Python" scripting language. It has been written first in the "tcl/tk" scritping language.
The program is a little buggy but does the job.
The program is a learning tool for young adult and older one to experiment. this explain the "buggy" state of it.

The digital Voltmeter is sampling at a too slow rate to be good, but it was a good cheap educational solution at the time.

I am just wondering what homemade equipment others users of this board have ?
